Siruthai is an Emotional Entertainer

Karthi's Siruthai is all set to hit screens on Pongal and filmmaker Shiva gives a short description about the film that it is an emotional entertainer with the right mix of action, comedy, romance and sentiments.

The film revolves around two characters – Petty Thief and Honest Tough Police Officer (both played by Karthi). Apart from the mere factors that Tamanah plays his love interest, she has been given a challenging role to perform. Santhanam will appear throughout the film tickling funny bones with Karthi.

The two contrastive characters gave a backbreaking job for Karthi as he had to get in touch with the two different personalities in society. He spent more days with the real life pickpockets in Chennai and received special guidance from the department officers for the police role.

The film has musical score by Vidhyasagar for the lyrical lines of Na. Muthukumar, Vivega and Arivumathi. R. Velrajan has handled cinematography and stunts are choreographed by Karunash Kumar.

K.E. Gnanavel Raja has produced the film under the banner name of Studio Green Productions.

Actor Karthi Dual Role

The most happening hero Karthi is playing a lead role in 'Siruthai' a remake of Telugu hit Vikramarkudu. And Karthi would be seen playing a dual role in Siruthai for the first time. The film has Karthi enacting dual roles as a tough IPS officer and other one as a petty thief , the total contrast.

The posters released by the makers recently had a very different looking Karthi, sporting a Cop get-up.

Karthi on confirming this said, "Yes. I play dual role in this film. Both characters are strikingly different from each other and give me ample scope for performance. As an actor, I am really happy to take up the challenge in Siruthai".

Karthi will be romancing Tamannah in the movie after their successful combination in Paiyaa. Santhanam will be donning the comedy track in Siruthai after his much-appreciated performance in Boss Engira Baskaran.
Cinematographer-turned-director Shiva is directing this film while K E Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green is producing the film.

A scene from Vikramarkudu (Telugu). Will be remake in Tamil named Siruthai.

Surya and Karthi together on Sun Pictures Movie Project

Sun Pictures has decided to make a film starring the actor brothers Surya and Karthi. Instead of buying and marketing the film, Sun Pictures has decided to produce it themselves.

Sun Pictures is already producing 'Endhiran' directed by Shankar and starring Rajini and Aishwarya Rai. Recently, Actors Association President Sarath Kumar had commented that films with a multi-star cast featuring more than one hero would be successful. As if in response to that, Sun Pictures has come up with this project featuring Surya and Karthi. Surya is presently acting in 'Ezhaam Arivu' and 'Ratha Charitram'. Karthi is acting in 'Naan Mahaan Alla'.

Instead of waiting for them to complete all these assignments, it looks like the new film could start any time. Once the heroine, director and technicians are finalized, we can expect a formal announcement.

Tamannah - "The girl was so fair that she was shining bright than the white dress she was wearing"

Even as rumour mills working overtime saying Karthi Sivakumar and Tamannah are seeing each other, the 'Paiyaa' hero has said that he was awestruck by the complexion of his ladylove in the movie.

"When I was working as an assistant to Mani Ratnam, Kareena Kapoor stunned me with her skin tone on the sets of 'Yuva'. But I later realised that Tamannah is fairer than Kareena when I met her first for Paiyaa," the young actor has said in an interview.

He added: "The girl was so fair that she was shining bright than the white dress she was wearing. I admire her a lot." Karthi is however careful in denying reports on his alleged relationship with Tamannah.

"Some say I have recommended her for my forthcoming film. There is no truth in it and Tamannah no more needs recommendations. The makers of the movie, who felt that our chemistry was great in 'Paiyaa', decided to cast us together again," he said.

'Paiyya' is all set to bringing home the bacon

Remember, when Vijay's 'Pokkiri' was released, the theatres were house-packed for the first 25 days, setting a great record at box office. In all likelihood, Karthi's recent release 'Paiyya' is all set to bringing home the bacon with the similar style. The film was released during first week of April that was followed by summer vacations. Doubtlessly, the film is turning to be a top-drawer across all the centres. The producers have openly admitted the report with the centres of release across the City, NSC and overseas areas, where the shows are houseful. It's evident that Karthi would surely hop-skip into the main league of superstars within short span of time. On the equivalencies, it's turning to be a heavy downpour of praises for Cloud Nine Productions and director Lingusamy for their fantabulous showpiece. - source tcln.blogspot.com

Paiyya Movie Review

Star-casts: Karthi, Thamannah, Millind Soman, Jagan, Omar and others
Banner: Tirupathi Brothers
Production: Subash Chandra Bose
Direction: Lingusamy
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematography: Madhi

From the maker of 'Anandam', 'Run', 'Ji', 'Sandakozhi' and 'Bheema', here comes a disappointing film 'Paiyya' that in no way holds a special mention for its clichéd storyline and narration. The film isn't nowhere different from Lingusamy's previous films' plots –say –Run and Sandakozhi as you can find the similarities with an ease.

The film well with an entertaining approach, but literally sets itself on contrastive grounds during the second half. When Vijayakanth, Sarath Kumar, Arjun and Vijay rolled down the hefty henchmen at the same time at various Indian States, Karthi too joins this bandwagon.
Doubtlessly, he'll be one amongst them if he continues performing fight sequences of not getting hurt at any point of time.
Shiva (Karthi) set outs for a job interview in Bangalore and stays with his friends over there. Coming across a beautiful girl Charu (Thamannah) with angelic looks, he cannot afford to stop following her. But his senses are high-spirited, when the same girl asks him to drive her to Mumbai mistaking him as a driver. The girl is accompanied by a Telugu speaking Gunda, who is dropped on the half way. And as the journey continues, Charulatha shares her deplorable flashback thereby a great support from Shiva.

At a crucial point on highway, where the henchmen are looking out for her, he takes a different route only to find other gang of bullies chasing the car. This time, it's not for Charu, but they are hunting down for Shiva.

What follows next is a series of yet another flash back (just like Dhanush comments on Vivek in 'Padikadhavan' – Flashback Onnum Appadi Weighta Illayee) that leaves you restless yearning for the end credits.

Lingusamy has committed two biggest flaws – penning a threadbare story that has no life in screenplay, especially during second half and completely wasting the efficient skills of Bollywood actor Millind Soman. Karthi's mannerisms are same as his emoting quotients in 'Paruthiveeran' and 'Aayirathil Oruvan'. He has to come out of that or else will get labeled with a degradable verdict for his stereotyped performance.

Here we bring you one more flaw about Thamannah's characterization. If Lingusamy had to portray her as wonderful girl, who doesn't even want the guy to take a look over her hips (during second half, prior to 'Sutthude Sutthude' song), how does she dance with such a skin show for 'Adada Mazhaida' in first half itself.
Lingusamy, quite Illogical Ji…

Millind Soman shouldn't have picked this offer and maybe it looks like he was badly in need of pocket money to pick such roles. Hope, his Bollywood buddies don't watch this film. Jagan's characterization is okay, though his comedy tracks aren't so much convincing.

How come our filmmakers are still brimmed with dim-witted ideas about a hero moving into territories of Andhra Pradesh and Mumbai and easily smashing down them? It's time to grow up.

Yuvan Shankar Raja's score is the one and only highlighting part as he adds more colors to the youthful touch. Mathi's cinematography is magnificent while Anthony's editing flawless as he avoids using immediate cuts and plug-in gimmicks.

The first half is somewhat commendable as there are more characterizations involved in lively conversations. Especially, the IT guy getting into the car and wooing down Thamannah is an abrupt laugh-riot. But as the second hour opens with an unjust flashback, nothing seems to be doing well for the film.

Since, there aren't any big releases at this point of time; the producers can somehow push the film's survival for next 100 days. Of course, they might have got ready with the 100th Day posters for the film by now.

Bottom - Line: You Blood - Same Blood
Verdict: Karthi Hitting "Villains Flying"

Aayirathil Oruvan Movie Preview

Posted: 12 Jan 2010 02:38 AM PST

Starring: Karthi, Reema Sen, Andrea, Parthiban.Direction: SelvaraghavanMusic: GV Prakash KumarProduction: Dream Valley Corporation

The time has almost come, Aayirathil Oruvan is finally here. More than 2 years in the making, a four fold increase from the originally planned budget and many obstacles later, Aayirathil Oruvan will grace theaters as the first big budget extravaganza of Kollywood in 2010. But, that is not the only first that Aayirathil Oruvan will be claiming. It is perhaps the first movie in Tamil to be built around the concept of a fantasy adventure which reportedly involves a treasure hunt, fights with tribals along the way, nights in the desert, time travel to visit the ancient kings of our lands and many more such fascinating things that may change the way Tamil cinema is perceived by audiences all around the world. Going by Selvaraghavan's nature and the film's trailers, it would be risky to guess as to what exactly the movie is all about. We will leave that for you to find out in theaters. What took Aayirathil Oruvan two years in the making? Well, going by industry reactions upon seeing the trailer, two years or even more is perfectly justified for making such a grand production. That brings us to perhaps the biggest surprise of Aayirathil Oruvan, that being the fact that the producer of the movie, Ravindran, is having his first experience of tinsel town.

The travails that he had to face through the two plus years in which the film has been in production have already been elaborated upon and praise has been lavished upon him for making a movie of this scale possible. The tremendous faith that the producer has in his team can be gauged by the fact that he did not back out from the project even after the budget that was initially planned at 7 crore shot to a final figure of 32 crores. For a movie that has a rookie youngster doing only his second movie in the lead, this is a huge figure. But, calling a guy a rookie after a movie like Paruthiveeran might be wrong which is why Karthi is being hailed as the next big thing in Kollywood. Aayirathil Oruvan will be crucial to his fortunes as a box office star because it is his first release in 3 years. Other stars of the movie, Reema Sen and Andrea too will be having their fingers crossed. They too are having releases after a long gap. Both ladies have already grabbed their share of the limelight by looking ravishing in the rushes.

It will also be a delight to watch Parthiban on screen after quite a while in a role that has till now been kept a mystery. Young composer G.V. Prakash whose tracks have hit the right notes with the youth too will be counting on Aayirathil Oruvan as his ticket to the big league.Overall, Aayirathil Oruvan carries huge expectations, both from the audience and the industry. The industry in particular will be keenly following the film to decide whether films of this genre are viable propositions in Kollywood. Releasing during the festival season of Pongal, it is sure to get off to a rocking start after all the months of waiting. Hope you all are pepped up to catch the biggest festival release in theaters and let us also pray that the latest news about some legal hassle doesn't materialize into something bad.
