Saba is an ex pat from UK, these photos were taken on her visit to Westminster Abbey. The Collegiate Church of St Peter at Westminster, which is almost always referred to popularly and informally as Westminster Abbey, is a large, mainly Gothic church, in Westminster, London, just to the west of the Palace of Westminster.
Westminster Abbey is a top tourist destination in Europe. Saba visited Westminster Abbey with her hubby. Saba is an historian and Westminster Abbey is all about history.
According to a tradition first reported by Sulcard in about 1080, the Abbey was first founded in the time of Mellitus (d. 624), Bishop of London. The abbey’s two western towers were built between 1722 and 1745 by Nicholas Hawksmoor, constructed from Portland stone to an early example of a Gothic Revival design. Further rebuilding and restoration occurred in the 19th century under Sir George Gilbert Scott. A narthex for the west front was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in the mid C20 but was not executed.
Saba had some great visiting Abbey and promised to send more photos of her after positive feedback in comments.
Isma Bakhtiar is a smart highly educated girl from Islamabad. She completed her masters from London School of Economics. Isma says she was born in Faisalabad, studied in Lahore and London, settled in Islamabad and doing job in Karachi! WOW! What a mix!
Isma Bakhtiar is a Hedge Funds Manager in a reputable financial institution. She manages Hedge Funds and keep them liquid.
A hedge fund is an investment fund open to a limited range of investors that is permitted by regulators to undertake a wider range of investment and trading activities than other investment funds and pays a performance fee to its investment manager. Each fund has its own strategy which determines the type of investments and the methods of investment it undertakes. Hedge funds, as a class, invest in a broad range of investments including shares, debt and commodities.
Hedge funds are typically open only to a limited range of professional or wealthy investors. This provides them with an exemption in many jurisdictions from regulations governing short selling, derivative contracts, leverage, fee structures and the liquidity of interests in the fund. A hedge fund will typically commit itself to a particular investment strategy, investment types and leverage levels via statements in its offering documentation, thereby giving investors some indication of the nature of the fund.
Isma is looking for sincere friends, actually she is somehow disappointed of her current social circle.
Iram and Mehwish are Pakibachiyan.blogspot.com readers from Lahore. They love Punjabi music and spicy foods. Both are working in reputable companies, after their jobs they can be often found in Food Street. Lahore is Pakistan’s true food centre. Lahorites have access not only to a large number of Pakistani dishes and Punjabi specialities, it has fast food restaurants, Western dishes, steak houses, pizzas, Japanese, Chinese, Lebanese, Afghani, Thai cooking and even Indian ‘Thali’ and ‘Dossas.’
They say we are food experts. They love Mughal-style Pakistani curries and Punjabi Barbecue and Karahis. In the curry category, the best choice is available at Village, Shezan Oriental, Bellpepper, Kabana, Paradise, Ziafat etc., where you can get reasonably good quality Curries, Biryanis, Nans etc.
Dum Pukht (PC) serves some ‘Westernised’ curries. Most dishes are very expensive and lack the true Mughal curry taste. It seems the dishes are made for foreign customers. For the real Delhi-style taste, turn to wayside shops like Paradise Canteen (near GPO) which serves the tastiest curries, Payas, Batairs and Biryani in town. I also visit Nanbai shops like Abdul Rehman’s in Old Anarkali, Mian Restaurant (off Canal Bank, Gulberg), Baghdadi (Shadman Market), Labha (Davis Road) and one or two outlets in Sadar, Main Market Gulberg, Liberty etc. Khan Baba (Chauburji) is popular for its Pakistani dishes well-cooked in ‘Desi Ghee.’
Nazmin Qamar is basically from Islamabad, Pakistan. Currently she has nationality of Denmark. She is living in Denmark with her parents since last 10 years. Nazmin tells that her father does the job in a software house in Denmark. Nazmin is crazy about gardening. She is a very good garden designer. She wants to share some tips on gardening with our readers. Nazmins tells that first of all check the site where the plant is at. If it is well-lighted, well moisture, and if the soil fits the plants preference for growing. Check also if it receives enough air. Allow gaps in your plants for a proper air circulation. Clean your garden always. Check plants for black spots and pruning. Remove it in your garden right away to avoid spreading of diseases and problems.
Nazmin more tells that lighting is very important for your plants so study your yard or garden area throughout the day to figure out how much sun it really gets and be sure to place your plants where they will have the best chance of thriving. Secondly you want to be sure that plants get enough water so that the soil is not hard and dry, but you never want to have standing water around your plant. The last thing she explains is soil. Nazmin advices that be sure to use a rich soil that is fortified with fertilizer appropriate for what you are planting. You want your soil to be a bit loose so the roots can easily spread and grow.
Sonia is from Boston, MA. Boston is the capital and largest city of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. During this trip they visited many Boston landmarks. The Massachusetts New State House sits at the top of Beacon Hill, overlooking Boston Common. It was designed by Charles Bulfinch and built in 1795 on land originally owned by John Hancock. This new State House remains the home of the Massachusetts legislature and the wonderful dome is covered in 23.5 carat gold leaf, making it very valuable. The State House is open daily for tours to the public and is part of The Freedom Trail walk. Paul Revere House, Bunker Hill Monument – Monument Square and many others.

Do you remember that pretty face? No! But I do and believe most of Gixmi old readers also remember. Its Samina Pervaiz, once living in Faisalabad, Pakistan. She got married and settled with her husband in Edinburgh, Scotland. This photo of her is taken at one of the wedding ceremonies of a relative at an Edinburgh hotel. Probably her emotion triggered by our last post about fans from Edinbrugh and she sent this photo & I was surprised.
Samina living a peaceful life, so calm and cool. As the summer days draw to a close, the russet autumn colors breathe new life into Edinburgh & Lothians with the backdrop and amber golds of Edinburgh’s Royal Botanic Garden, the bracing beach walks along Edinburgh’s coast and countryside, the invigorating autumn air of the Pentland Hills and country parks like Beecraigs near Linlithgow.
Samina is living in New town Edinburgh. The New Town was an 18th century solution to the problem of an increasingly crowded Old Town. The city had remained incredibly compact, confined to the ridge running down from the castle.
Samina want to know how much she has changed in 1 year, 1 year of her marriage. Looking forward to read your comments.
Huma Khan’s passion is organic gardening and specially flowers. In her Texas house she have a huge garden basically from Faislabad. Huma got married to her doctor husband few years back & left for USA. Huma graduated from Agriculture University Faislabad.
Organic gardening is a simple way to ensure that you are growing the highest-quality produce in a sustainable way that is healthy for the plants and the planet. It is one of the oldest methods of cultivation, and the food it will produce is not only healthier for you it’s less expensive to. You may find that it might become the most rewarding hobby, or lifestyle, you have ever undertaken. Organic gardening is a simple healthful way to convert living organisms into carbon compounds in a way that considers the whole of nature and its integral place in that scheme.
Organic gardening uses natural compost and manure to fertilize and grow plants and flowers. Since you will be using natural compost no harmful chemicals or pesticides are used on your plants. Some gardeners are willing to invest in some extras required by organic gardening because it ensures that no harmful pesticides or fungicides will be used. By growing a garden without chemical fertilizers, you will naturally build the soil to support healthy plant life. Chemical fertilizers and additives will, over time, damage the soil’s ability to provide what plants need to resist disease, insect attacks, and stress.
Huma has promised us to send more of her photos but she want to read some positive comments about her. So guys if you want to see more photos of Huma Khan you must provide positive feedback.

Ghazala recently celebrated her graduation and what a graduation ceremony it was! She is very happy to become a excellent graduate. Graduation is the more common word for what is known technically in the University’s Charter & Statutes as ‘conferment’ of degrees. Students who have successfully completed their studies and who are having their awards conferred at a ceremony are known as ‘graduands’. Following their conferment at the ceremony they leave as ‘graduates’.
The most important part of graduation ceremony for her was to deliver a graduation ceremony speech. Public speaking is fun and is also a nightmare. For some people, that is. I enjoy public speaking and I like it when nobody is yawning, and I found humor to be very effective in preventing an audience from yawning. But the problem is, not everybody can pull off with humor when you are speaking on stage. You are nervous, and the joke don’t just seem right. But trust me, if you can pull off one, then it will release the tension from you. And if you can laugh with the crowd, then the crowd is yours.
Since coming up with new jokes is not easy, Ghazala found that telling anecdotes from her past experience, specially where she was laughing at herself, seem to strike the chord more effectively.
